Our Most Asked Questions
Welcome to the Couch Potato Run Club FAQ page - where your curiosities meet their match!
Whether you're wondering if your couch is an acceptable starting line (it totally is) or if we require Olympic-level running skills (spoiler: we don’t), you’re in the right place. We’ve rounded up the quirkiest, most common questions and answered them with the same energy we bring to our runs: fun, friendly, and a little bit cheeky.
Let’s dive in and get you ready to hit the ground running—literally!
Do I have to be fit to join Couch Potato Run Club?
Not at all! If your idea of fitness is reaching for the remote, you're in the right place. Our programs are designed for absolute beginners, so whether you’re starting from the couch or just looking for a fun way to get moving, we’ve got you covered. Baby steps are how all great journeys begin—especially ones to the fridge, right?
What if I can't keep up with the group?
No stress! We’re all about going at your own pace. It's our coaches job to make sure you're never forgotten. Whether you’re walking, jogging, or doing an interpretive dance of running, there’s always room for you. Plus, with our supportive community, you’ll never feel left behind. We’re in this together—slow and steady does win the race!
Can I join if I've never run before?
Absolutely! If running feels as foreign as ancient hieroglyphics, don’t worry. Our programs start with the basics. Think of it as the ABCs of running—with fewer pencils and more sneakers. No experience required; just bring yourself and a dash of enthusiasm (or at least a good sense of humor).
What should I wear for the sessions?
Fancy running gear? Optional. Comfy sneakers? Essential. Anything else? Totally up to you! Whether it’s your favorite band tee or that pair of leggings you’ve had since the ‘90s, we’re here for it. As long as you can move, groove, and feel good, you’re dressed perfectly.
How many times a week do we train?
Our programs typically run (pun intended!) 2-3 times a week, twice per week with the coach & once per week on your own - giving you plenty of time to recover—and to brag to your friends about your new fitness hobby. Don’t worry; we’ll ease you into it. It’s all about progress, not perfection.
What happens if I miss a session?
Life happens—we get it! If you miss a session, don’t sweat it (save that for the next run). You can catch up with the group during the next meet or follow our handy plan to stay on track. No guilt trips here, just high-fives when you’re back.
Will I really be able to run 5km by the end of the program?
YES! Trust us, you’ve got this. As long as you attend atleast 90% of the sessions and make an effort to do your homework runs - you've got this! Our programs are designed to ease you into running one step (literally!) at a time. By the end, you’ll be hitting that 5km mark like a pro—and wondering why you ever doubted yourself. Plus, we’ll be there cheering you on the whole way.
What’s the vibe like during sessions?
Fun, friendly, and zero judgment! Picture a group of people laughing, chatting, and making “why did I sign up for this?” faces together. Add a sprinkle of encouragement, a dash of energy, and voila—you’ve got Couch Potato Run Club in action.
Do I need fancy running shoes to join?
Not at all! If your sneakers still have laces and don’t squeak too loudly, you’re good to go. The goal is comfort, not breaking the bank. If you’re unsure, we can help point you in the right direction—just don’t show up in flip-flops, okay?
What if it rains on training days?
We like to think of it as a free shower! But if the weather’s truly terrible, we’ll reschedule. Keep an eye on your WhatsApp group chat for updates—you never know, a little drizzle might just be the extra sparkle you need.
What if I’m the slowest in the group?
Perfect! You’ll be setting the pace for the rest of us who love an excuse to slow down. Seriously, no one gets left behind, and we celebrate every effort. Progress isn’t a race—it’s your personal win.
What if I can’t make it to the final 5km run?
No worries! Your journey is about more than one day. If you can’t make the final run, we’ll still cheer you on from wherever you are. Plus, you can always organize your own victory lap when the timing works for you.
Is there food at the end of the sessions?
Not officially, but if you bring snacks, we won’t complain. (Pro tip: a celebratory coffee or smoothie after the session is the best reward!) Don’t forget, your pantry is only a short jog away after you’re done.
What if I don’t feel motivated to run?
Oh, we’ve been there! Some days, the couch has superglue powers. That’s why we’re here to keep it fun, social, and as guilt-free as possible. Motivation comes and goes, but showing up is what counts. We’ll do the rest!
What makes Couch Potato Run Club different from other running clubs?
Glad you asked! We’re the club that gets you. No elite runners, no pressure, and no scary jargon—just good vibes, achievable goals, and a community that cheers for every small win. Plus, we’ve mastered the art of mixing hard work with a whole lot of fun.
What if I have a bad running day?
Bad days happen to the best of us. Maybe your legs feel like lead, or your motivation took a holiday—no biggie! Show up, do your best, and remember that every step forward is progress.
What’s the age range of members?
If you can lace up your shoes and crack a smile, you’re the right age! Our members range from teens to young-at-heart retirees. It’s a wonderfully diverse crew, proving that running is for everyone, no matter the number on your birthday cake.
Will I lose weight by joining the club?
While running can be a great way to get healthier, we’re not here to focus on the scale. Couch Potato Run Club is about feeling strong, confident, and energized—bonus points if your pants fit better along the way!
Is there a membership fee?
Yes, but it’s worth every penny! Our affordable programs include expert coaching, a welcoming community, and all the support you need to turn your running dreams into reality. Think of it as investing in yourself—plus, it’s cheaper than a monthly coffee habit!
